Veggietales is back with its newest release, Abe and the Amazing Promise. The newest DVD focuses on a lesson that my kids struggle with……Patience! The main story is great and is a slight departure in style from other Veggietales videos. It  begins with Bob and Junior Asparagus instead of Larry. It follows the duo as they make a documentary about Abe and Sarah. Silly things show up from spitting camels to a funny retirement home as Bob tries to finish his documentary. Bob learns about the patience Abe and Sarah had as they waited for God to fulfill His promise of a child to them.
 
The DVD’s second story, Blunders in Boo-Boo-Villie, focuses on Larry as he plays an inventor named Jacques. Jacques is always in a terrible hurry to finish an invention and move on to another one. He never gives anything the attention it deserves. His course of action leads Bob into piloting a flying device held by nothing more than gum! Through the story the kids learn that it is better to do things right the first time- with patience, than to hurry through everything they do.

My three-year-old daughter Beth and I both enjoyed the movie. She loves Veggietales so she was really excited about seeing the movie and immediately wanted to see it again after it was over. I liked it because of the fresh approach taken with the main story. I also liked that both stories tied into the same Biblical lesson.

Abe and the Amazing Promise will be a great addition to your Veggietales library and is sure to be a title that moves to the top your child’s favorite list. The DVD is available just in time for Valentine’s, releasing February 7th. All LifeWay stores will celebrate the release with lots of fun activities on the 7th.  I hear Bob and Larry will greet fans at several stores. Check with your local store for details.
